Property landlords should make sure that they are protecting their tenants homes before winter to avoid having to foot larger bills at a later date, as well as ensuring that the people who are paying rent are happy and comfortable, according to one expert.
Mike Campbell, of Belvoir Falkirk, says relatively low cost tasks such as checking guttering and down piping for blockages and damage, which can be made easy and by the use of tower hire, can mean tenants do not experience water leaking into their home in heavy winter rain.
John Redden, from Belvoir Tynedale, also advises that protection of pipes is made a priority for landlords, in order to make sure people are not left without water for any period of time.
“Ensure that pipes are properly lagged, particularly in the loft,” he said.
Another option to protect pipes and conserve energy is through full loft insulation. A circular saw can be used to cut strips of insulation to size easily.
