Air Conditioning Units

Air conditioning units will likely be the first type of cooling equipment you think of. They are generally the first choice for cooling especially in an office setting; but there are a few different types of air conditioning units, which have their own advantages and disadvantages based on your circumstances. There are two main air conditioning categories; Portable Exhaust Tube air conditioning and Split Type air condition units. Once you have decided on the type of unit, you then have the choice on both the size and power of the individual air conditioning unit to consider.

One of the first steps when choosing the right air conditioning unit for you is to consider the amount of cooling duty which is required to properly cool the space. The amount of cooling duty required is impacted by a number of factors including the size of the area, the number of people in said area and items in the area which generate heat; this can include items such as computers, photocopiers and printers.

Exhaust Tube air conditioners are thought to be one of the most practical and cost-effective solutions; particularly for offices. They tend to be the most common choice for office buildings and work by pulling hot air through exterior grills, this hot air is then moved through a refrigeration cycle where heat transfer cools the air; the cooled air is then pumped out of the front into the office space and the hot air is vented out of the exhaust tube at the rear. The exhaust tubes need to be positioned through a window; so that the hot air is deposited outside the office.

Split Type air conditioning units are considered to be a more efficient choice of air conditioner but also more expensive. They can be preferred due to the flexibility they offer; they do still require ventilation
similar to the Exhaust Tube types, but they offer a lot more flexibility and have no risk of releasing hot air back into the cool environment.

Evaporative Coolers

Evaporative Coolers are a type of air conditioning unit that does not use a refrigeration cycle like their counterparts. They instead rely on the process of evaporation. Evaporative Coolers don’t require ventilation, making them a popular choice for buildings and offices without open windows.

Evaporative Coolers have a fan in the unit which pushes hot air across a cooling media; as this occurs the process of evaporation begins, and the subsequent heat transfer cools the air. This cooled air then moves into the environment which needs cooling.

Evaporative coolers, whilst great for spaces lacking open windows, aren’t always as effective as other cooling units as they are only able to lower the temperature by a few degrees. They are, however, particularly effective in dry climates.

Chiller Hire Services

For the larger industrial, commercial and institutional facilities
Air-Cooled Chillers are the best choice of cooling equipment and are available in 5kW to 750kW individual units. Air Cooled Chillers actually have a variety of uses, they not only air condition large spaces but they can also lower the temperature of all kinds of equipment and cool drinking water. Air Cooled Chillers are vapour compression refrigeration systems. They comprise of the compressor, condenser, expansion valve and evaporator.


Chiller Hire Services are useful for seasonal use in large industrial and commercial settings; they can be used as back up chillers in facilities where food and drink are manufactured and stored or even in pharmaceutical or chemical manufacturing businesses. As well as being used as back up chillers for this purpose, they also work as large-scale air conditioning for large offices and factories. In addition to this; Air Cooled Chillers can be used for temporary events for a variety of applications including ice rink creation.

Cooling Fans

Cooling Fans can be of great benefit in a variety of settings from smaller office fans to large industrial fans. It is a way to provide high performance cooling in both commercial and industrial settings. Cooling Fans don’t only serve as a way to cool the air, they can also be used to move around dust and steam; something which is extremely useful in a factory setting. The majority of cooling fans for hire are portable and therefore have the added benefit of ease as they can be moved around as required.
